Rail Coach Factor (RCF), Kapurthala is likely to roll out first prototype of Vande Metro coach by April 2024. A total of 16 such coaches are expected to be launched by the later part of 2024-25. It will provide service for intercity travel up to 250 km of distance. It is built based on the model of Vande Bharat train and will have passenger capacity of 280. The amenities include installation of 14 sensors for smoke and fire detection, KAVACH etc.
