The Railway Board has approved South Western Railway’s proposal to deploy Automatic Block Signalling (ABS) system in Bengaluru for six sections covering a distance of 639.05 km at an investment of Rs 8.74 billion. The sections are: 17.75 km long Bangalore city-Yeshvanthpur-Yelahanka section, 160.65 km long Yeshvanthpur-Arasikere section, 139.8 km long Baiyyappanahalli-Penukonda via Channasandra section, 138.25 km long Bangalore city-Mysuru section, 119 km long Whitefield-Jolarpet section and 63.6 km long Lottegollahalli-Hosur. This will lead to enhanced line capacity along with increased number of trains.
