MoRTH proposes doubling defect liability period under EPC contracts to 10 years

The MoRTH is considering to extend the defect liability period under EPC contracts from the current five years to ten years.
This move aims to enhance the quality of construction in road projects. Extending the defect liability period is expected to incentivise contractors to build high-quality roads that require less maintenance over time.
This approach aligns with the durability and reliability seen in roads constructed under the HAM and built-operate-transfer (BOT) mode.
