MoP issues draft Electricity (Third Amendment) Rules, 2024

The MoP has notified the Electricity (Amendment) Rules, 2024. As per Rule 21, a generating company or a person setting up a captive generating plant or an energy storage system, or a consumer having a load of a minimum of 25 MW in the case of interstate transmission system and 10 MW in the case of intra state transmission system will not be required to obtain, licence under the act for establishing, operating or maintaining a dedicated transmission line to connect to the grid. This exemption applies if such company, person or consumer complies with the regulations, technical standards, guidelines and procedures issued under the act.
