The Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) and Indian Navy have signed an MoU worth Rs 10.38 billion for two port projects. First, the construction of a breakwater and jetty in Porbandar (Indian Navy), involving the construction of a 2,500 metre long breakwater on the eastern side of the existing breakwater at Porbandar, along with a 600 metre long jetty to facilitate the basing of new generation ships being inducted into the navy at an estimated cost of Rs 8.88 billion. The project is expected to be completed by end 2026. Second, the construction of a jetty at Okha (Indian Navy), involving the construction of a 100 metre long jetty for smaller craft and boats of the navy at an estimated cost of Rs 1.5 billion. The project is expected to be completed by end 2028.
