IR commissions 10,867 RoBs/ RuBs during 2014-23

Indian Railways (IR) has commissioned a total of 10,867 Road Over Bridges (RoBs)/Road Under Bridges (RuBs) during 2014-23. In 2023-24 (till December 2023), construction of overall 612 ROBs/RUBs have been completed with an investment of Rs 39.7 billion. These works are taken up to eliminate manned level crossings (LCs) which impact the safety in train operations, mobility of trains among others. Several other measures taken by IR for railways safety include: Provision of electrical/electronic interlocking systems with centralised operation at 6,521 stations, complete track circuiting of stations at 6,558 stations along with provision of interlocking of 11,143 LC gates up to December 31, 2023.
