The central government inaugurated sewerage projects at Mathura and Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh on January 25, 2024. These include the Mathura sewerage project zone I which involves the construction of 30 million litres per day (mld) and 6.8 mld sewage treatment plant (STP), rehabilitation of existing 30 mld STP at trans yamuna and 20 mld tertiary treatment and reverse osmosis plant at a cost of Rs 4.6 billion. It also includes the Moradabad sewerage project zone I involving the construction of a 58 mld STP, 264 km long sewerage network and nine sewerage pumping stations for Ramganga river pollution abatement at a cost of Rs 3.3 billion.
