Sanjay Joglekar: Chief Technology Officer, Mumbai Port Authority

Dr Sanjay Joglekar has over 35 years of experience in global information technology (IT) delivery, strategic consulting and project management across diverse industries such as port management, government projects, banking, oil and gas, manufacturing, IT consulting, and healthcare. His expertise lies in devising enterprise-wide IT roadmaps, managing multi-million-dollar projects globally, and establishing effective onsite-offshore models. He is a thought leader, engaging directly with C-suite executives and leveraging deep functional and technical expertise to drive business success.

Joglekar currently leads the IT initiatives, including design, planning and implementation of smart port technologies, at Mumbai Port Auth­ority, harnessing artificial intelligence/machine learning, internet of things and 5G. In the past, he has worked at various ports in India, the Middle East and Southeast Asia on digitalisation and enterprise transformation projects. He has held pivotal roles such as chief information officer, chief development officer and chief executive officer in various organisations, overseeing teams, budgets and end-to-end project respo­nsibilities. His career highlights include leadership and project management, and strategic and technology initiatives. He has developed and executed multi-pronged strategies, conceptualising business transformation and IT advisory initiatives, and creating centres of excellence (CoEs) for business intelligence and data warehousing platforms, fostering scalable technical solutions and maintaining quality assurance. He has also spearheaded the implementation of various technologies such as cloud computing, system applications and products in data processing, Microsoft Dynamics, and CoE models, emphasising a customer-centric approach and seamless integration. Joglekar has a PhD in management, an MBA in oil and gas and an MTech in IT. He also has certifications in PMP, Six Sigma, Information Technology Infrastructure Library and software quality assurance, among others.

He has been an eminent speaker at various forums and conferences in India and the Asia Pacific, sp­eaking mainly on smart port tec­hnology implementation, em­er­ging technologies and mariti­me ecosystems. He has been reco­gnised as a “Top 50 Techn­ology Visionary” and the “Best IT Man­ager in the Middle East and Asia Pacific”. He is actively engaged with Rotary Intern­at­i­o­nal.

Joglekar’s family includes his wife, a former college vice-principal, and their two sons.
