IR signs MoU with CII for promoting sustainable initiatives

IR has signed an MoU with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to promote sustainable initiatives by lowering its water and energy consumption. IR aims to achieve net zero carbon emission by 2030. The focus areas of the MoU include energy efficiency in manufacturing facilities and railway workshops, green railway stations, implementation of newer technologies, and skill development. Meanwhile, the union cabinet has approved the signing of an MoU between IR and United States Agency for International Development/India, which focuses on long-term energy planning; the creation of an energy efficiency policy and an action plan for IR buildings; clean energy procurement; bid design and bid management support for system-friendly, large-scale renewable procurement; support for IR in the promotion of e-mobility; etc.
