Construction of NER’s Electric loco shed in Ghazipur completed

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has completed the construction work of North Eastern Railways (NER) electric loco shed in Ghazipur. It is likely to be inaugurated soon and will cater to several benefits which includes easier repair and maintenance works for the locomotives, lower consumption of energy by 15 to 20 per cent through use of electric engines which will also lead to reduced overall expenses for railways. Further, it has four categories for maintenance of the engines which comprises of IA for general checkup of the engines in every three months, IB for greasing of the engines in every six months, IC for checking of wheels and other elements of the engines in every nine months and TOH. With this, around 100 electric engines in the loco shed will always be equipped for use when required in the divisions of NER.
