Northern Railway has achieved a breakthrough in constructing the 3.2 km long T-1 tunnel between the Katra and Reasi section of the Jammu-Udhampur-Katra-Qazigund-Baramulla railway line project. The project involves the laying of a 345 km long new railway line connecting the Kashmir Valley with the IR network from Jammu to Baramulla via Udhampur, Katra and Qazigund, at an investment of Rs 373.45 billion.
