GMB, Indian Navy signs MoU for two projects in Gujarat

The Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) and Indian Navy have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) worth Rs 10.38 billion for two port projects. First, the construction of a breakwater and jetty in Porbandar (Indian Navy) involving construction of a 2,500 metres long breakwater on eastern side of the existing breakwater at Porbandar along with 600 metres long jetty to facilitate basing of new generation ships being inducted into the Navy at an estimated cost of Rs 8.88 billion. The project is expected to be completed by end-2026. Second, construction of Jetty at Okha (Indian Navy) project involving construction of a 100 m long jetty for smaller crafts and boats of the Navy at an estimated cost of Rs 1.5 billion. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2028.
