ONGC commences crude oil production from KG-DWN-98/2 (KG-D5) block

Notably, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has commenced production of crude oil from cluster-II fields in KG-DWN-98/2 (KG-D5) block in the Bay of Bengal. The oil production is likely to reach 45,000 barrels per day by June 2024 while over 10 million standard cubic meters per day (mscmd) gas output is expected. Besides, four out of 26 wells are already operational. The KG-DWN-98/2 block is located in the Krishna-Godavari basin in Andhra Pradesh with an area of 9,800 square km. The block has three discoveries, namely, Cluster 1, 2 and 3. While phase-II of the project is nearing completion, phase-III is likely to be completed by June 2024 with peak oil and gas production.
