IR signs MoU with CII for promoting sustainable initiatives

IR has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for promoting sustainable initiatives by lowering its water and energy consumption. IR targets net zero carbon emission by 2030. The focus areas of the MoU include energy efficiency in manufacturing facilities and railway workshops, green railway stations, implementation of newer technologies, skill development among others. Besides, the Union Cabinet approved signing of an MoU between IR and United States Agency for International Development (USAID)/India which focuses on long term energy planning, creation of energy efficiency policy and action plan for IR buildings, clean energy procurement, bid design and bid management support for system-friendly, large-scale renewable procurement, supporting IR in the promotion of e-mobility. etc.
