PSA Mumbai has become the country’s first 100 per cent renewable powered container terminal with the commissioning of its 7.8 megawatts (MW) solar farm with O2 Power. The solar farm will be expanded further to 10 MW by June 2024. It will provide over 75 per cent of PSA Mumbai’s electricity requirements, with the remaining renewable power sourced from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited and other providers. Moreover, the electrification of all existing rubber-tyred gantry cranes in phase 1 is underway and is expected to be completed by 2027. PSA Mumbai is targeting to reduce 50 per cent of carbon emission by 2030.
