Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation [BMRC] Limited signed an MoU with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for the implementation of the Trishulia-Bhubaneswar Airport Metro Rail Project on November 20, 2023. Phase I of the project involves the construction of a 26 km long elevated metro rail corridor from Trishulia to Bhubaneswar airport with 20 metro stations (Biju Patnaik International Airport, Capital Hospital, Sishu Bhawan, Bapuji Nagar, Bhubaneswar Railway Station, Ram Mandir Square, Vani Vihar, Acharya Vihar Square, Jaydev Vihar Square, Xavier Square, Rail Sadan, District Centre, Damana Square, Patia Square, KIIT Square, Nandan Vihar, Raghunathpur, Nandankanan Zoological Park, Phulapokhari and Trisulia Square stations). It will be implemented by BMRC at an estimated cost of Rs 59.29 billion. The project is likely to be funded by the state government.
