RTIS installed on 8,700 locomotives

The Real-Time Train Information System (RTIS) has been installed on 8,700 locomotives, which is 60 per cent of the total 14,000 locomotives in operation. It is an automatic, made-in-India-based system that helps in tracing the real-time location and speed of trains. To achieve this, it utilises the Indian Space Research Organisation’s satcom and satnav technologies. The RTIS is linked with the National Train Enquiry System and Control Office Application.
