IR is expected to complete the installation of KAVACH on the Delhi-Mumbai corridor by 2025. A total of 1,659 km of routes have been equipped with KAVACH and another 500 km will be equipped by March 2024. With this, IR aims to expand its KAVACH installation capacity from 1,500 km to 2,500 km each year. Additionally, around 5,000 km is targeted to be covered by 2026. Besides, Siemens AG (Germany) and Kyosan Electric Manufacturing Company Limited (Japan) have been granted approval for the deployment of the KAVACH system in IR. This marks a significant expansion of the initiative, which was previously undertaken by three Indian companies – Medha Servo Drives Private Limited, HBL Power Systems Limited, and Kernex Microsystems (India) Limited.
