Indian major ports handle 534.86 mt of cargo during April-November period of FY 2024

During the April-November period of FY 2024, the Indian major ports handled 534.86 million tonnes (mt) of cargo traffic, compared to 506.67 mt in the corresponding period of FY 2023, registering an increase of 5.6 per cent. Port-wise, the Paradip Port handled the maximum cargo at 92.92 mt during April-November FY 2024 with a share of 17.4 per cent followed by Deendayal Port (16.4 per cent) and Jawaharlal Nehru Port (10.6 per cent). The overseas cargo handled at the major ports increased by 5.8 per cent from 390.83 mt during April-November FY 2023 to 413.34 mt during April-November FY 2024. Meanwhile, the coastal cargo handled at the major ports increased by 4.9 per cent from 115.84 mt during April-November FY 2023 to 121.52 mt during April-November FY 2024.
