Four port clusters to be developed as mega ports by 2047

According to the union minister for ports, shipping and waterways, four port clusters out of the existing will be developed as mega ports by 2047. These four port clusters are the Cochin-Vizanjam port cluster, the Gala­thea South Bay port, the Chennai-Kamarajar-Cuddalore port cluster, Paradip, and other non-major port clusters with a capacity of over 300 million tonnes per annum (mtpa); the other two are the Deendayal and Tuna Tekra Port cluster, and the Jawaharlal Nehru and Vadhavan port cluster with a capacity of over 500 mtpa.
