State grants administrative sanction for Chennai Greenfield Airport Project

The Tamil Nadu government has granted administrative sanction for the acquisition of 3,774.01 acres of land in the Parandur and Kanchee­puram districts for the development of the Chennai greenfield airport pro­ject. A total of 5,746.18 acres are required, out of which 1,972.17 acres are government land. The project involves the development of a new greenfield airport with two runways, terminal buildings, taxiways, aprons, cargo terminals, etc., in Parandur at an estimated cost of Rs 200 billion.
