The Gujarat government has signed an MoU with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to conduct technical feasibility studies for 11 proposed greenfield and brownfield airports and to expand six airports and three airstrips. Identified locations for the proposed airports include Ankleshwar, Morbi, Rajpipla, Botad, Dwarka, Dhordo, Rajula, Dahod, Ambaji, Dholavira and Palitana. The existing airports proposed for expansion are Bhavnagar, Kandla, Porbandar, Surat, Vadodara and Keshod. Further, the expansion of existing airstrips at Mehsana, Amreli and Mandvi is under consideration, with feasibility studies to be conducted. Techno-economic feasibility studies and land acquisition studies for setting up greenfield airports at Kevadia, Vadnagar and Siddhpur will also be conducted.
