MRPL plans SAF plant worth Rs 4.5 billion

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) is planning to set up a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant entailing an investment of Rs 4.5 billion. Currently, MRPL is seeking necessary approvals from its board for the development of the plant. Besides, it has also conducted a survey with experts to find sources for the necessary feed quantities for the targeted SAF production. The project is in line with the Union government’s one per cent blending target and is likely to be built in 30 months. MRPL will take about two-and-a-half years to build the plant.
