MoRTH aims to bid out BOT projects worth up to Rs 2 trillion by March 2024

In a strategic move, the MoRTH is planning to auction projects worth Rs 2 trillion under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model before the implementation of the model code of conduct. The objective is to leverage the BOT model for highway projects covering less than 1,000 km.
Additionally, the ministry is exploring advanced technologies such as GPS-based toll systems to replace traditional toll plazas. The implementation of GPS-based toll collection is scheduled to commence nationwide by March 2024, contributing to reduced traffic congestion and more precise toll charges based on the distance travelled.
