KfW Development Bank is likely to sign an agreement to provide Rs 45 billion funds for Bengaluru Metro Expansion Projects. Currently, Phase II, Phase 2A and Phase 2B projects are ongoing. Bengaluru Metro Rail Project – Phase II involves construction of four extensions and two new lines covering a length of 72.09 km (13.79 km underground and 58.3 km elevated), in Karnataka at an investment of Rs 306.95 billion. Phase 2A (KR Puram-Silk Board corridor) involves development of a metro rail network from Krishna Raja Puram (KR Puram) to Silk Board in the city covering a distance of 19.75 km at an estimated cost of Rs 42.04 billion. Phase 2B (Bengaluru Airport Corridor) involves development of a 38.44 km long metro rail network at an estimated cost of Rs 105.84 billion. Besides, Bengaluru Metro Rail Project – Phase III is in the announced stage.
