EAC recommends grant of EC and CRZ clearance for revamping of existing pipeline network at oil jetty area at Deendayal Port

The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) recommended grant of environment clearance (EC) and coastal regulation zone (CRZ) for the augmentation of liquid cargo handling capacity by revamping of existing pipeline network at oil jetty area at Deendayal Port. The project aims to increase the liquid cargo handling capacity of oil jetties from the present level of 8 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) to 23.8 mtpa at Deendayal Port. It involves scrapping of 125 existing pipelines (of the total 167) from oil jetties 1- 5 to the Y junction and laying 84 new pipelines of larger diameter, made of mild steel for handling edible oil and utilities and stainless steel for handling chemicals in their place on the existing pipe-bridges. The existing pipe-bridges shall also be strengthened. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 1.7 billion.
