ONGC to commence crude oil production from KG-DWN-98/2 (KG-D5) block in May 2024

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) is likely to commence production of crude oil from cluster-II fields in KG-DWN-98/2 (KG-D5) block in the Bay of Bengal in May 2024. Earlier, the production was anticipated in December 2023 but has faced delays in implementation due to subsurface geological issues, shifting of well locations and surface facilities, delays and disruption in project supply chain and challenging weather conditions among others. The KG-DWN-98/2 block is located in the Krishna-Godavari basin in Andhra Pradesh with an area of 9,800 square km. The block has three discoveries, namely, Cluster 1, 2 and 3.
