The state government of Gujarat signed a memorandum of understanding with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to conduct technical feasibility studies for eleven proposed greenfield and brownfield airports and to expand six airports and three airstrips. Locations in which the proposed airports are identified include Ankleshwar, Morbi, Rajpipla, Botad, Dwarka, Dhordo, Rajula, Dahod, Ambaji, Dholavira, and Palitana. The Bhavnagar, Kandla, Porbandar, Surat, Vadodara, and Keshod are the existing airports proposed to be expanded. Further, expansions of the existing airstrips at Mehsana, Amreli and Mandvi are also under consideration with studies to be conducted to examine the feasibility. Techno-economic feasibility studies and studies for acquiring land to set up the greenfield airports at Kevadia, Vadnagar, and Siddhpur will also be conducted.
