NFR completes 45 per cent electrification

Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) has completed 45 per cent of the electrification work on its broad gauge routes. It is aiming towards 100 per cent electrification which comprises of total 4,348 route kilometres (rkm). At present, the zone has achieved an overall electrification of 1956.63 rkm which consists of 910.45 km in Assam, 9.58 km in Meghalaya, 6 km in Nagaland, 285.87 km in Bihar and 744.726 km in West Bengal. The Indian Railway Construction International Limited, Rail India Technical and Economic Services, NFR/Construction and Central Organisation for Railway Electrification have been further doing the work of electrification in a phase wise manner in order to expedite the electrification works.
