The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has commenced water supply to Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation (VVCMC) under the Surya regional bulk water supply scheme. Currently, 85 mld water is being supplied which will be increased to 185 mld. MMRDA is implementing the regional water supply scheme with the Surya River as the source for 403 mld bulk water supply for meeting the water requirement of 185 mld at VVCMC and 218 mld at Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation including rental housing complexes and 27 villages located in the Western Sub Region of MMR. It is being developed by Larsen & Toubro Limited at an estimated cost of Rs 13.26 billion.
