During April-October FY 2024, the Indian major ports handled 463.98 million tonnes (mt) of cargo traffic, compared to 446.14 mt in the corresponding period of FY 2023, registering a growth of 4.0 per cent. Port-wise, the Paradip Port handled the maximum cargo at 80.21 mt during April-October FY 2024 with a share of 17.3 per cent followed by Deendayal Port (16.5 per cent) and Jawaharlal Nehru Port (10.7 per cent). The overseas cargo handled at the major ports increased by 4.1 per cent from 344.19 mt during April-October FY 2023 to 358.36 mt during April-October FY 2024. Meanwhile, the coastal cargo handled at the major ports increased by 3.6 per cent from 101.95 mt during April-October FY 2023 to 105.62 mt during April-October FY 2024.
