In a recent development, Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) and Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore the feasibility of setting up liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied CNG infrastructure at CONCOR terminals. The MoU envisages adoption of cleaner LNG powered trucks and trailers for long haul transportation by replacing existing diesel-fired engines with LNG-fired ones at multiple CONCOR terminals. Also, it includes transportation of LNG in railway rakes from import terminals near sea ports like Dahej terminal in Gujarat. Moreover, IGL and CONCOR are likely to start with setting up LNG infrastructure at CONCOR’s Dadri terminal in Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh in order to achieve reduced vehicular emissions.
