The government of Odisha approved the construction of a barrage across Rushikulya river near Janivilli at Dharakote block in Ganjam district on November 14, 2023. The project will provide 67.5 mld of drinking water to the people of Berhampur district. It will also provide irrigation to 52,675 hectares of land in Ganjam district. The completion period is two years.
