Commercial operations for the Kolkata East-West Metro Project are likely to commence by June 2024.
Meanwhile, Howrah Maidan-Esplanade stretch is ready for commercial operations and trial runs are going on. Besides, trial runs on Sealdah-Esplanade stretch are likely to commence soon.
The project, being implemented by Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRC), involves construction and operation of 16.6 km long metro connecting Sector 5, Salt Lake in Kolkata to Howrah Maidan through an underwater metro track in the state of West Bengal.
