The new Vande Sadharan train was reportedly received at Mumbai’s Wadi Bunder yard on October 29, 2023. The train underwent trials on November 8, 2023. It is a 22-coach LHB non-AC 3-tier sleeper train. It will operate at affordable fares and can carry 1,800 passengers. The train is pulled by two WAP-5 locomotives, each equipped with streamlined noses, and can reach a top speed of 130 km per hour. The trials happened on the Mumbai-Nashik corridor, with a focus on hilly terrain.
