Foundation stone laid for Ambala airport

The foundation stone for a domestic airport at Ambala Cantonment was laid on October 15, 2023. The airport is to be established alongside an Air Force Station on 20 acres of land. The required land was acquired from the Ministry of Defence at a cost of around Rs 1.33 billion. The airport is expected to spur economic activity and improve connectivity, in addition to potentially supporting the Chandigarh airport. The existing runway of the Ambala Cantonment Airport Station will be used to land commercial aircraft once the airport is completed. The passenger terminal is expected to come up within six months, and will have the capacity to cater to at least 200 passengers at a time.
