BMC plans to construct Rs 29 billion road and tunnel projects for Mumbai

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) plans to construct roads and tunnels along key points of the Western and Eastern Express Highways in Mumbai, at an estimated cost of Rs 29 billion. The project aims to segregate traffic into two tiers, with Rs 20 billion allocated for Eastern Express Highway works and Rs 9 billion for Western Express Highway projects. The initiative includes the creation of underground tunnels, subways and horizontal roads akin to underpasses; and the facilitation of vehicle movement by enabling navigation, U-turns and crossings at subterranean levels.
