Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has submitted revised proposal to the Union Government for Bengaluru Metro Rail Project – Phase III. The cost has been revised and reduced to Rs 156 billion from earlier proposed cost of Rs 163.28 billion owing to three coach trains planned to be deployed on one of the corridors instead of the six-coach planned. Besides, the Government of Karnataka has approved preliminary work including land acquisition and shifting of utilities for the project. The project is likely to be completed by 2028. The project involves construction of 44.65 km long route and have two elevated corridors: Corridor I-12.5 km long JP Nagar Phase IV-Kempapura stretch along the outer ring road (ORR); and Corridor II-32.15 km long Hosahalli-Kadabgere stretch on Magadi Road. A total of 31 stations are planned under the project.
