The Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport, Patna witnessed the opening of a new departure gate on October 30, 2023. The airport has been facing congestion issues for a while. With the opening of the new gate, two additional lanes have been added. It is aimed towards ensuring that no inconvenience is faced by passengers while boarding flights and would aid in reducing the long queues at the airport. The new opening comes with the upcoming festivals kept in mind but is to remain permanently open after the festivals too. As per the Airports Authority of India (AAI) data, the number of passengers that travelled through the Patna airport increased from around 2.97 million passengers in 2021-22, to around 3.75 million in 2022-23. Currently, the airport operates 44 flights daily.
