GAIL (India) Limited and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) have signed a propane supply agreement worth Rs 630 billion for the Usar petrochemical complex. As per the agreement, GAIL will procure 600 kilo tonnes per annum (ktpa) propane from BPCL’s liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) import facility at Uran for a period of 15 years. Besides, Usar Petrochemical Complex is likely to begin operations in 2025. GAIL is undertaking revival of existing LPG plant and other facilities at Usar in Raigad district in Maharashtra and converting it into 500 ktpa polymer grade propylene products using PP and PDH technologies.
