The Centre declared that 26-km cross-border road connecting Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district with Myanmar’s Sittwe port, part of the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project (KMTTP), will be completed by November 2023 at a cost of Rs 11.32 billion.
A significant Rs 200 billion road project connecting Mizoram with Nagaland, Manipur, and the Myanmar international boundary in the northeast is underway. In Mizoram, Rs 80 billion has already been invested in road projects.
Additionally, a 373 km road project from Aizawl to Tuipang will be completed by June 2024, promoting economic development, trade, and job opportunities.
The Centre plans to address traffic congestion in Aizawl with Rs 25 billion, 35-km Aizawl bypass road, including a 2.5 km tunnel, scheduled for completion by December 2025.
