Centre lays foundation stone for Mega Container Terminal Project at Tuna-Tekra in Gujarat

The central government laid the foundation stone for the mega container terminal project at Tuna-Tekra in Kandla Port in Gujarat on October 17, 2023. It is being implemented by Hindustan Infralog Private Limited, a joint venture (JV) of DP World Limited and National Investment and Infrastructure Fund. The project involves development of a container terminal at Tuna Tekra in the state, on a build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis under PPP mode at an estimated cost of Rs 42.44 billion for a concession period of 30 years. The capacity of the terminal will be 2.19 million TEUs. The berth shall be designed for handling vessels of up to 6,000 TEUs and up to 14 metre draft. The construction period is 36 months. It is being implemented under the National Infrastructure Pipeline.
