The windfall tax on domestically produced crude oil decreased to Rs 9,050 per tonne, effective from October 18, 2023. Earlier, the special additional excise duty (SAED) on crude petroleum was fixed at Rs 12,100 per tonne. Besides, the windfall tax on the aviation turbine fuel (ATF) will be reduced from Rs 2.5 per litre to Rs 1 per litre while that on diesel will be decreased from Rs 5 per litre to Rs 4 per litre. However, SAED on gasoline will remain zero.
