IR registers more than 750 mt freight loading in first half of 2023-24

In the April –September period of 2023-24, the national transporter has carried freight loading of 758.20 million tonnes (mt). This is 21.52 mt higher as compare to the freight loading in the corresponding period in 2022-23 (736.68 mt). In the said period, Indian Railways (IR) has earned Rs 816.97 billion against Rs 789.91 billion over the last year, which is an improvement of approximately Rs 27.06 billion as compared to the corresponding period of the last year. During the month of September 2023, originating freight loading of 123.53 mt has been achieved, against loading of 115.80 mt in September 2022, which is an improvement of approximately 6.67 per cent over the last year. Freight revenue to the tune of Rs 129.57 billion has been achieved in September 2023 against Rs 123.33 billion freight earnings in September 2022, thereby showing an improvement of about 5.06 per cent over the last year.
