Air India announced the commissioning of a mega warehouse facility in Delhi for the storage of more than one million engineering spares on October 6, 2023. These are reportedly integral for the maintenance, checks, and repairs of aircraft and ground support equipment. The centralised warehousing facility is located near terminal 3, at the cargo complex of Delhi airport’s air cargo logistics division. It has an approximate area of 54,000 sq ft. The airline’s fleet and operational efficiency are expected to be enhanced through this move, and hence strengthen the country’s expanding aviation ecosystem. It aims to improve the quick turnaround of the airline’s flights operating out of Delhi. Any engineering requirements can be promptly met as the warehouse would provide better access to, and control over aircraft spares, hence improving the punctuality of flights.
