Centre plans to monetise Rs 2 trillion worth of highways by 2027

The Centre is likely to monetise approximately Rs 2 trillion ($24.1 billion) worth of highways by 2027.
The NHAI is set to commission between 4,000 to 4,500 km of new roads every year over the next three years. Under the government’s current plan, rooted in the public-private partnership (PPP) framework, around 88 per cent of road projects awarded before March 2020 are now operational and ready for monetisation. However, about 12 per cent of projects awarded prior to 2020 still face delays, owing to operational inefficiencies.
