Powergrid acquires Bhadla III Transmission and Ananthpuram Kurnool Transmission under TBCB Route

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Powergrid) has acquired Bhadla III Transmission Limited and Ananthpuram Kurnool Transmission Limited on build, own, operate and transfer basis from PFC Consulting Limited. Bhadla III Transmission will establish “Transmission system for evacuation of power from REZ in Rajasthan (20 GW) under Phase-III Part B1”, while Ananthpuram Kurnool Transmission Limited will establish “Transmission Scheme for Solar Energy Zone in Ananthpuram (Ananthapur) (2,500 MW) and Kurnool (1,000 MW), Andhra Pradesh”. Bhadla III project comprises of establishment of a new 765/400/220 kV pooling station (PS) at Bhadla-3 and a 765 kV D/C transmission line traversing in Rajasthan and associated bay extension works. The transmission system is an inter-state transmission system (ISTS) project and is to be constructed within 18 months from the effective date of contract. Meanwhile, the Ananthpuram Kurnool project comprises of establishment of a new 400/220 kV PS at a suitable border location between Ananthpuram and Kurnool (in Andhra Pradesh) and two 400 kV D/C transmission lines traversing in Andhra Pradesh and associated bay extension works. The transmission system is an ISTS project and is to be constructed within 24 months from the effective date of contract.
