Metrowater supplies piped water to many households in Manapakkam in Chennai

Metrowater has begun the piped water supply to many households in Manapakkam in Chennai twelve years after its addition to the city corporation. Reportedly, 12,000 families in the area had not received water for 10 days in May 2023 and their source of water remained a public borewell which could dry soon. It is expected that the water board will begin the water supply in the added areas of Greater Chennai Corporation such as Nerkundram, Madipakkam, Ramapuram, Manapakkam and Madhavaram before the end of 2023 while Neelankarai and Semmanchery will receive water supply by 2025. An estimated amount of 61.42 million litres per day will be provided to around 0.79 million residents of these added areas.
