Terminal 2 (T2) at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport commenced international flight operations on September 12, 2023. It was initially set to commence international flight operations on August 31, 2023, but was postponed. The Saudi Airlines flight from Jeddah was the inaugural flight. Domestic flights for four airlines, namely AirAsia, Air India, Star Air, and Vistara would also be handled at T2 in addition to the international flights. The terminal was built at a cost of Rs 130 billion and was inaugurated on November 11, 2022. Construction for T2 was planned to be carried out in two phases, with the first phase designed to handle 25 million passengers per annum (mppa) and phase 2, which is currently in the planning stage is expected to accommodate 20 mppa. T2 would be able to handle a total of 70 mppa post the completion of both phases.
