Operations at the new terminal building at Veer Savarkar International Airport, Port Blair, commenced on August 21, 2023. It was built at a cost of around Rs 7.08 billion and can handle 1,200 passengers during peak hours and 4-5 million passengers annually. It has a total built-up area of 40,837 square metres (sq. m) and 100 per cent natural lighting. 10 aircraft can be parked at the new apron. Additionally, the three-storey building is equipped with 28 check-in counters, 12 immigration counters, three passenger boarding bridges and four conveyor belts.
